TURKEY

COASTAL BEZOAR IBEX

This is a new specie that can only be hunted in one particular part of the country. It is a 4 hour drive west of Antalya. They issued 10 permits this year. But there is a big demand. Animals are pretty much like Kri kri ibex. A smaller form of Bezoar. Body size wise and also horn size as well.

BEZOAR IBEX

Being really beautiful, with long sweeping shaped horns that grow up to 130cm or even bigger it is considered by many to be the best looking of all the ibex family. As it is with some ibex species, 50 inch (127cm) horn length has always been considered to be the magic number – an exceptional trophy- by the international hunting fraternity. Although many of our Bezoar ibex clients collected trophies in this range over the years, ibex of this caliber is getting scarce and thus are hard to find these days. An ibex hunter’s realistic expectation for a good area should be 110-115 cm. While many good, prime areas can produce Bezoar ibex n the 110-125 cm range, the average size for most regular areas s around 100-105 cm.
How to get there: After your arrival in Istanbul, man port of entry to the country, our representative will meet you for the rifle procedures and escort you to the domestic flights terminal where you will board on a flight which will take you to one of the two southern cites of Adana or Antalya. Both cites can be reached within 1 to 1 1⁄2 hour flight. We normally make the hunting area decision about a month prior to the hunt date depending on the field reports we receive from our local guides. This helps us ensure a successful hunt. Upon your arrival to one of these two cites, you will be met by your professional hunter/interpreter at the airport and be driven to the hunting are in a 4×4 truck. A trip of 2-4 hours can be expected to get to the hotel. Please notice that you will be accompanied by some our staff throughout your stay in Turkey. You will never be left alone from the moment you step into the country until the last minute. The hunting grounds in the Taurus range, covered with maquis and forests of pine and altitude vares between 700 – 2800 meters. Many areas can be reached from the airports within 2 to 4 hours with a smooth drive.
Day 1———-Arrival to Istanbul, fly to south; Antalya or Adana, airports, transfer to the area (2 to 4 hours drive) same day
Day 2-8——-Hunt Bezoar Ibex.
Day 9———-Drive back to the airport and fly back to Istanbul and home.

KONYA SHEEP

Hunting season from September to end of January, best time is October and early November although during the whole season success is almost 100%
There are a number of ways to get to Konya. One can take a direct flight to Ankara which is the nearest international airport to the city of Konya. Then a car ride of about 2.5 hours on the highway has to be taken. Another option seems to be a domestic flight of about an hour from Istanbul to Konya. Turkish Airlines has direct daly flights to Istanbul both from United States and from many major European cites.
As for the free range Konya sheep hunt, hunters are required to fly to Ankara which s the capital of the nation. From here, a two hour ride on the highway takes the hunter to the hunting area.
The terrain n both areas are gentle in general which makes hunting quite easy. As a general rule, hunting is done by driving around in 4 wheel drive vehicles and glassing until a ram that bears a desirable horn length is spotted. Then the last stalk to get within the shooting range is done on foot.
Our Konya sheep organization is for 6 days with 4 days reserved for hunting although it can practically be completed in one or two days. Here is a typical itinerary for this hunt;
The price covers custom handling, hunting organization up to mentioned days, trophy fee of mentioned specie, hunting license, gun import permit, area fees, transfers from/to closest airport, full board accommodation n the hunting area, interpreter and local guide.
The price doesn’t include: flights, visa, trophy shipping, insurance, tips, hotels and meals before or after the hunt, and personal expenses.

ANATOLIAN CHAMOIS

We organize our Anatolian chamois hunts in two separate areas namely Erzincan and Artvin which are located in the eastern part of the country. Hunting grounds in these mountainous regions lie at altitudes of 2000-2500 meters (6500’-8000’)and Bezoar also can be spotted while hunting chamois in some localities.
Hunting day starts very early in the morning with a short breakfast followed by a 40 minute-2 hour drive to get to the area. The hunt is conducted on foot using spot & stalk method.
The season for this hunt runs from September through the end of December, rutting time being the whole month of November.

HYBRID BEZOAR IBEX

Turkish Hybrid (Adıyaman) Ibex habitats in Southeastern Turkey near by Adıyaman town. It is breeding of The pure Bezoar Ibex and domestic goat that both live in the same area. This mixture created one of most interesting sub species of Ibex and discovered couple of years ago.
The Hybrid Ibex is completely wild and the hair of it is long, points of its horns curve outwards and horns curled like those of the wild sheep. The average length stand as 75-85 cm (29”-33”) and better trophies like 100-105 cm (39”-42”)is possible to harvest.
The rutting time rises as end of November and December but as the area is a smooth one and because of bad weather conditions, hunters can hunt it easily at other times too. Any time between October thru March is fine for Hybrid Ibex .
