Zambia – Roan & Sable

Clients have taken Roan up to 30.5″ and Sable up to 48″ with our superb outfitter in Zambia. Roan 26″ to 28″ are the norm while Sable commonly range from 42″ to 46″ depending on which concession is hunted. Our African Division Manager Dave Hagstrom spent 41 days with this same outfitter last June and July so we know the areas and operation very well. Roan can be hunted in 3 of their hunting areas and Sable in four areas. Sable and Roan quotas are purposely kept low by the outfitter so that their high trophy quality is maintained. For 2018 we have only one Roan open in the Nyamvu and Nyakolwe where the 30.5″ bull was taken last season however we still have a couple available in Mufunta for this year where we also currently have two 2018 Sable openings as well. Mufunta borders the Kafue National Park on the west side and is a truly incredible Sable area….many Sable and very high trophy quality with trophy bulls taken up to 48″ to date.

We have more openings for 2019 however 2018 is getting tight so if you’ve been considering one or both of these premier game animals then now is the time to visit with us. If booking now for 2019 we can maintain the current price however later on the cost will go up. Whether you wish to hunt Roan or Sable separately or combine both animals, we can certainly put you in the right spot!

Additionally, many of you know that there was a Leopard hunt buying frenzy at SCI this year. This outfitter has one Leopard/Sable/Plainsgame Safari currently available in the Mufunta for 2018 and 2019. All other Leopard hunts in the Luangwa Valley concessions are sold for both years.

Mozambique Leopard 2017 – 2018

Due to the rapid fire buying of Leopard hunts during the SCI Convention this year, there are not anywhere near as many available for 2017 or 2018 as there might have been otherwise. Our best outfitter in Mozambique does however have 3 available. Two for 2017 and one for 2018. Success on all Leopard hunts has been 95%.

One of the 2017 Leopards was spoken for but the client who will be hunting Lion has only recently decided to concentrate harder on that animal and in doing so, backed off the Leopard which made this one come available. The hunt is in the Niassa Reserve and is being sold as a 12-day Leopard/Buffalo/Plainsgame Safari at $32,250 + govt.license fee/trophy fees, hunting license, firearms permit for first rifle, transfer from camp to Pemba & return and transfer of trophies to Pemba for shipping and dip & pack.

The other available 2017 hunt is for Leopard With Hounds which has been nearly 100% successful on past hunts and this takes place in the outfitter’s Gaza area which borders Zimbabwe’s Gonarezhou National Park. This hunt will be sold as a 12-day Leopard w/Hounds & Plainsgame Safari at $28,000 + plainsgame trophy fees. Price includes the Leopard govt.license fee/trophy fee, hounds, hunting license, firearms permit for first rifle, transfer from Hoedspruit RSA to camp and return, transfer of trophies to Maputo and dip & pack. Dates are somewhat flexible but need to be confirmed with the outfitter.

The 2018 Leopard is being sold as a Leopard/Buffalo/Plainsgame Safari in Niassa Reserve and priced at $29,000 + Govt.license fees/trophy fees, hunting license, firearms permit for first rifle, transfer from Pemba to camp & return, transfer of trophies to Pemba and dip & pack. Dates are somewhat flexible but need to be confirmed with the outfitter. We currently have a client looking at this with a first refusal option but it has not been confirmed at this point. Contact Dave at Safari Outfitters to check on the status of this hunt if interested.

We will be very happy to give you a full and complete quote on these three Leopard hunts. Contact Dave at Safari Outfitters.
